Help validating email

Jun 30, 2011 at 9:29 PM

Hello,

This is a very easy to use with a good appeal.

How ever, I was playing around with the demo and i notice that if I entered my email as follows: ajmakoni@live,com instead of (dot), the validator wasn't able to pick the error and went ahead submitting the entries.

I haven't done JQuery but looking forward to purchasing a book and learn in a few weeks time.

Great work.

Thanks for the feedback, the validation for the email is done using a regular expression from this page: http://www.regular-expressions.info/email.html. I went with the safer option by using the one from the standard defining the structure of an email address, but if you use the much shorter one he suggests at the top of the page it would pick up the typo you mentioned. You will find the regex to replace at the bottom of the validation script file in the var called validators. The purpose of this var is to make it easier to define your own validators that you can reuse which email is an example of, with name and function that is to return true for valid and false for not valid.
